I grew up in a Christian home and was always taught about the bible and about Jesus. At age 14, I accepted god into my life when I attended ranger lake bible camp for the first time. it’s an experience that I’ll never forget. Even though I’ve always wanted to grow closer to God, as life went on like most people I struggled with temptation, falling into sin, and felt guilty for ignoring God and felt like I could not make things right between us.

Finally, after feeling lost, I began to ask God for more guidance with my life, patience as I desired to get on the right path, and I have sincerely felt God working in and around me. This year specifically, I’ve felt blessed with answered prayers like a new job financial stability, good Christian friends, meeting my soon to be wife, and i feel like God has really been talking to me this entire year! It has been one of the best years of my life, and I owe this all to him.

I’ve always wanted to be baptized but always found different reasons not to do it: whether it was not being ready, not finding the time or not feeling like I understood enough about it. However, I am committed to growing more in Christ and following him with my whole self and I am choosing to be baptized today as a public expression of this commitment.   As I think about my upcoming marriage, it is also important to me that I do this now as an indication of my commitment to follow and obey Christ in my marriage. I feel that I am finally on the right path that he wants me to be on and I’m looking forward to learning more of what he wants from us and applying that to every day life and the people I meet on the way.

Romans 6:4 says, “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

I like the verse because everything that was..is washed away clean of sin and we can be reborn through baptism and with Christ.
