1) When did Jesus first get your attention?

It seems like He was always there, in the background perhaps, taken for granted, but always present.  In Grade 5 an 8th Grader challenged me with ‘God has no grandchildren, so are you his child? Have you said yes to following Jesus?’.  Not long after, I did so.  In Grade 8, at Redberry Camp I renewed this, with a much greater understanding of my choice.

2) What is a faith marker in your life?

So many…the unexpected invitation to international ministry with IVCF when I was considering going overseas…the job from Kodaikanal International School when I thought I would head to another (but they said see us in 2 years time)…the offer of a different role at KIS at 6 years, when I was looking to move on…

3) What is Jesus doing in your life right now?

Keeping me company, giving me support in a small cluster of families who enjoy hiking as much as I do.  We have become a ‘family’ in a different way through the isolation of lock downs (once 5 to 10 could meet). Showing me a few specific families and individuals I can help, who are struggling without work.

4) What is a favourite scripture and why?

Psalm 19 “The heavens declare the glory of God; … the skies proclaim the work of his hands. … Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”  As a person who loves being outdoors, hiking, camping, going for walks, being with my animals…each time I see His presence and am reminded of His love…

5) Why do you love our church?

It has been ‘home’ from childhood.  Support financial, through prayers, sharing with care groups on my short visits to Canada, or to the congregation (sometimes in church service, sometimes at a congregational meeting). The outreach and vision of Forest Grove (in so many ways) is inspiring even when I am far away.
