Morning Out for Moms (MOMs) is a ministry of Forest Grove Community Church that provides moms of young children with a weekly morning out and an opportunity to connect with other moms.

We invite you to join us Tuesday mornings to relax, drink some coffee, eat breakfast, and enjoy some time being encouraged and inspired in your role as a mom and woman.  You will get the morning to “re-fuel” while your children are cared for in a safe and loving atmosphere by excellent volunteers.

A typical schedule for a Tuesday morning looks like this:

  • 9:15 – Drop off your child(ren)
  • 9:20 – Breakfast Buffet (Provided*)
  • 9:55 – Welcome and Speaker / Feature
  • 10:55 – Table Discussion / Feature
  • 11:15 – Pick up your child(ren)

*Moms are assigned one Tuesday within the semester to bring baking or breakfast items.

Each semester runs for 10 weeks and includes various speakers and features related to being a mom.  Because we provide childcare, the program is by registration only and is limited to the number of childcare spots we have available.

We are so excited that MOMs is soon underway. Mark your calendars because registration is happening on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th at 7:00am sharp. Because our program is completely volunteer based, we are limited to the number of childcare spaces we have available and therefore run by registration only. This fills up quickly so set your alarms and reminders now!

Dates: September 24 – December 3 (No MOMs on October 15)

Time: Every Tuesday morning from 9:15am-11:15am

Cost: $60

Registration: Monday, September 9 @ 7:00am

Please note:

  • Registration is on a first come, first served basis and usually fills up within the first hour
  • We are still unable to process payment online. After registering, you will need to complete payment within one week to secure your spot. This can be done at our church office in person by cash, cheque, debit, or credit or by mailing a cheque. Cheques can be made out to “FGCC”
  • Registration will be open at 7:00am sharp on Monday, September 9. Unfortunately, we have limited spots and it fills up quickly so make sure to set your alarms and check back here for the link to register.

If you have any questions about the MOMs program, feel free to email Cloe Wiens.

Morning Out for Moms is a program run entirely by volunteers. We are always looking for more people to join our team of moms, students, retirees, and others that have Tuesday mornings free. If you have a heart for caring for young children or blessing busy moms with a chance to refresh & refocus, please contact us by sending an email.

Childcare Workers: There are well over 100 children to care for each Tuesday morning during our program. We are always looking for more childcare workers, as this means we can allow more moms to attend.

  • Commitment: Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (We love volunteers that can commit to the full 10 week semester, but also appreciate those that can fill in whenever they can.)
  • These volunteers are assigned to an age-specific room (babies, 12-18 months; 18-24 months; 2, 3 or 4+ year olds), and work alongside several other volunteers to provide care, serve snacks, read stories, play games, etc. for the children.

Kitchen Workers: Each Tuesday we serve breakfast to the women that attend, and have a group of volunteers that prepare, serve, and clean up the meal.

  • Commitment: Tuesdays from 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

My name is Laurie Pauls. I feel most alive when I am singing and dancing to music, sitting around a fire with friends or when I have ah-ha moments that change me forever. I have been married to Josh for 13 years. Just like marriage, motherhood has stretched me and grown me in ways I never could have imagined. Kaylin (age 8) and Raya (age 6) are the rain and sunshine that God is using to grow me up. I am passionate about extending hope and encouragement to fellow moms going through some of the most amazing and most difficult moments in our lives as we raise children. God has been gradually calling me out of my comfort zone on the MOMs leadership team by adding responsibilities one at a time. This year I have found myself leading
the leadership team, semester planning, and coordinating table leaders, mentor moms and speakers. I am humbled to be entrusted with these responsibilities and I will continue looking to the Holy Spirit for wisdom, strength, help, and His redeeming power to even use my mistakes along the way. I am thrilled to be serving alongside these other wonderful women and experience what this year of MOMs has in store for all of us!

My name is Cloe Wiens. My husband, Kyle and I have been married for 4 years and we have two children, Lukas (2) and Lyla (9 months). As a family we love to go on road trips, play disc golf and spend time with friends. I also serve as a leader at our youth group every Friday night. I have loved getting to know young adults that are on the leadership teams but also love the youth students that we get to hang out with. This is my 4th semester attending MOMs and my 2nd semester on the leadership team. This year, I am taking on the role of registration coordination, communications and treasurer. I’ve been so thankful for the way the MOMs program has helped me in my parenting journey so I am very excited to be a part of the planning and preparation of it all.

My husband Jon and I celebrated six years of marriage this year. We have a two-year-old daughter named Emery, and a son named Eli who was born in May. I enjoy spending time with my family – outside, on family trips, or watching our kids experience new things; DIY projects; decorating our home; organizing; trying new recipes; planning parties; and being with people! When I’m not busy keeping up with our kids (or on mat leave), I work part-time at an orthodontic office where I love meeting and interacting with the families who come to our office. I have attended the MOMs program for the last two years. I’m thankful for the opportunity that this program has given me to meet new people, to be encouraged and refreshed, and to be supported in this new journey through parenthood. My role on the MOMs leadership team is MC, semester planning, and the prayer e-mail.

I have three daughters, Harper (5), Madigan (3) and Briar(1) and my husband and I recently celebrated 11 years of marriage. This summer we moved to Martensville and are excited for what God’s plans are for us in this new community. I started serving on the MOMs leadership team a few semesters ago. It has been a true blessing to be part of the process that is involved in planning a semester of MOMs. The very best part is knowing that so many women are filled up through this program and I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of this program.

I am blessed to be the mother of two sweet and sassy girls: Petra (5) and Willow (3). My husband Wade and I will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary this year. As a family, we enjoy time spent outdoors, preferably in a forest or in the mountains. As for myself, I enjoy travelling and creative pursuits like sewing, photography and painting. When I get time to myself I love to crack open a book, take a walk, or watch a movie (preferably a thriller or some kind of period drama – Jane Austen!). This will be my 6th semester attending MOMs, and it’s been a blessing to me in my walk through motherhood. As an introvert and self-professed homebody, it’s one of the few times during my week that I connect with friends in a relaxed and supportive environment. I’m excited for another semester!

My name is Janette Willms and I am the childcare coordinator. My husband Andrew and I have three lovely daugters: Maia (6), Hannah (4) and Esme (18months). We love listening and dancing to loud music, reading books, spending time outside, travelling to Phoenix to warm up when the opportunity arises, and travelling to Calgary to visit family. I have enjoyed my role at MOMs for the last 3 years. This role is very inspiring to me as I have met all kinds of volunteers who have expressed a real desire to give moms a break, and especially as I see how God continually provides for this program to function effectively. Looking forward to another semester!
