At Forest Grove Community Church we are passionate about helping people to meet Jesus in a personal way. Receiving Jesus Christ as the Saviour and Lord of your life is the most important step you will ever take. As Saviour, we are admitting that we are in need of Jesus to save us from our sin. As Lord, we are submitting to Jesus as the master of every part of our life. These two parts – Lord and Saviour – are inseperably linked in the life of a follower of Jesus.
As we look around us, we see many people who are not experiencing the full and abundant life that Jesus promised. Or perhaps they are trying to earn it through living and doing things for others.
The Solution – Repentance and Forgiveness
First, we need to believe that the way to this rich, full life is through Jesus Christ. Only as we allow Jesus to control our lives can we become true folowers of Him.
“If you confess with your mouth, Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the death, you shall be saved!” (Romans 10:9)
Next, we must admit that we have sinned and be wiling to confess our sin and turn from it. “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)
Then we must receive Jesus Christ into our lives and He will come in. He will be our Lord and Saviour – making us His children. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name. (John 1:12)
A Life with Jesus
After we have received Jesus into our lives we can expect to have the full life He promised here and eternal life with Him in heaven. A life with Christ is not a life without challenges, but the power of Christ living in you will help you cope with life’s challenges. We know that this is a personal decision between you and God. However, we would like to answer your questions and pray with you as you begin your new life with Jesus. We would also like to provide help to assist you to grow in your knowledge of the Scriptures and the Saviour. Feel free to contact one of our staff or other church leaders for more information.
